Digital simulation of communication systems using frequency modulation - Computation and minimization of intermodulation distortions in frequency-modulation radio relay systems with the aid of digital simulation
Abstract
A description is presented of a procedure for the accurate determination of the characteristics of a communication system in the case of almost arbitrary forms of distortion. The procedure involves the simulation of the communication system with a digital computer. The brief computation times needed for the simulation program make it possible to optimize the system parameters. The properties of the signals are discussed along with the characteristics of the transmission method, the error sources, and the most important approaches for the determination of the intermodulation-distortion parameters. The simulation approach considered makes use of discrete Fourier transforms.
