Alpine Type Ultramafic Rocks and Episodic Mountain Building in the Scottish Highland.
Abstract
Three belts of alpine type ultramafic rocks in the Scottish Highlands are each associated with a change of sedimentation and structural style. It is suggested that they were emplaced during three phases of mountain building; first, in the Pre-Cambrian (750-800 m.y.), second, late in the Upper Dalradian (Lower to Upper Cambrian) and finally in the Lower Ordovician.
