Generalization of ratrace circuits
Abstract
A ratrace circuit is a kind of hybrid circuit for UHF and SHF operation. Both the basic ratrace circuit and the enlarged circuit consist of four sides whose lengths are odd multiples of a quarter wavelength at the center frequency of transmission. By stepping the characteristic admittances of the sides, ratrace circuits whose sides are of lengths other than odd multiples of a quarter wavelength may be obtained. Ratrace circuits hitherto known are included in the discussed generalized circuit. As a result, the operating characteristics become asymmetric about the center frequency, but miniaturization of ratrace circuits will be possible.
