The iron abundance of 82 Eridani.

Summary. An iron abundance of [Fe/H] = -0.34 has been obtained from a differential model atmosphere analysis of the Fe I spectrum of the southern high velocity G 5 dwarf 82 Eridani (HR 1008). The calculations of the Fe I spectrum for a grid of line- blanketed model atmospheres in the range 0.80 <= 0eff < 1.00 and logg =4.5, 4.0, 3.0 are presented so as to enable other stars to be analysed by the same method.
