Secondorder Plasma Interaction in the Crab Nebula
Abstract
Summary. It is shown that the secondorder interaction with the relativistic plasma leads to an amplification of the Alfve'n waves when the mean velocity of relativistic plasma relative to the thermal plasma exceeds the speed. It is found that the secondorder interaction stabilizes the relativistic plasma. The (k, a) relation is shown in graphical form for the MaxwellBoltz;rnann and a Cosmicray distribution function.
