Literature survey relating to the absorption properties of ozone in the near ultraviolet
Abstract
In preparation for ballroom-borne observations in the ultraviolet, the absorption properties of ozone were reviewed. The results of laboratory studies to determine the absorption coefficients and the effect that temperature and pressure have on these coefficients are described. Data on the distribution of atmospheric ozone as a function of latitude, longitude, time of year, time of day and altitude, are given. Methods of measuring residual ozone are outlined. Tables for the calculation of atmospheric absorption; value of the coefficients of absorption of ozone, variation of the refraction index of the air as a function of wavelength are presented.
