Phonons and structure of Zn xCd 1- xSe solid solution
Abstract
Phonons in Zn xCd 1- xSe solid solution are studied, using Raman scattering technique. Zn xCd 1- xSe has been found to exhibit a one-mode behavior, and this result is discussed within the framework of the existing criteria for one- and two-mode type behavior. The behavior of zone boundary phonons is also studied and was found to follow that of TO(Γ) and LO(Γ). The investigation of the crystal's structure showed wurtzite structure, twinned zincblende and for the first time also polytypes, depending on the molar concentration of the compounds in the solid solution.
