Passive Scalar Diffusion in a Turbulent Flow
Abstract
The turbulent diffusion of a scalar contaminant passively advected by a homogeneous stationary flow is investigated by expanding the velocity and scalar fields in stochastic Wiener-Hermite functionals. The time-evolution integrodifferential equation for the mean scalar concentration and the concentration covariance function are derived in terms of Eulerian one-point multitime velocity correlations and include all orders of the expansions.
