Sensitivity of nuclear matter binding energy to the nucleon-nucleon phase shift at high energies

Nuclear matter binding energy is found to depend considerably upon the phase shift at high energies, when rank two separable potentials of short range in real space are employed. Such sensitivity had not been found in earlier work which employed potentials of reasonable ranges of order 1 fm.
