Intensities for the [0 iii] xx4959, 5007 emission lines were measured with a photoelectric spectrum scanner to calibrate spectrophotometry for 23 representative objects from Markarian's list of galaxies with strong ultraviolet continua. The 23 objects include 10 galaxies that resemble the Seyfert galaxies, two galaxies with strong but narrow nuclear emission lines, and 11 diffuse galaxies. The Hp luminosities do not vary greatly among the Seyfert-like Markarian galaxies, but these luminosities generally exceed those found in the commonly studied Seyfert galaxies NGC 1068 and NGC 4151. The H luminosities from the diffuse Markarian galaxies vary by more than a factor of 100. UB V magnitudes are given for 24 Markarian galaxies, and the Seyfert-like galaxies are clearly separated from the diffuse galaxies in the color-color diagram.
