The siphon

The authors give a survey of hydrostatic theories and present a dynamic theory for an ideal nonviscous liquid. The ideal theory is then modified to take account of the viscous nature of liquids and some experimental results are given. Finally, the authors attempt to analyse the factors underlying the working of the siphon and suggest a possible theory.
