A possible method of testing the universality of strong interactions

It is shown that the cross-section of the process π^- + p --> n + e⁺ + e^- at the effective mass e⁺e^--system m² <~ m_π² has the same order of magnitude as at m² = m_ϱ² and is very sensitive to the universality relation of coupling constants of vector mesons.
