Radial Velocities of 25 Bright B3V Stars
Abstract
Results of the radial velocity measurements of 25 northern bright B3V stars ( .5, a> -16 ), based on 388 spectrograms (20A/mm), are presented. Of these 25 stars, 18 are suspected to have variability in their velocity, and their velocity-curves are proposed. Interpreting them as spectroscopic binaries, the author concludes that the apparent slow rotators tend toward longer period. A short discussion is given about a possible excess of binary systems with a secondary of about 1m , and it is proposed to use a frequency function (a; mi), instead of the (a) function conventionally used. Key words: Radial velocity; Binary; Spectroscopic binary; B-type stars.
