On the nature of Eta Carinae.
Abstract
Various details of the spectrum of Carinae are found to be consistent with a model in which a compact H ii region is photoionized by radiation from a very massive star whose surface temperature is about 30 000 K. The infra-red spectrum is presumed to be thermal re-emission from dust surrounding the ionized region.
