The Effect of Recoil in Resonance-Line Scattering
Abstract
A discussion of recoil from a microscopic point of view and direct numerical calculations show that recoil can be neglected for resonance-line scattering which involves Doppler redistribution. Further arguments show that recoil can be neglected in problems of physical interest even when the damping wings are important.
