Observations of early-type stars from OGO-VI.
Abstract
Stellar fluxes of the order of 10-8 erg -1 cm-8 A-i for 10 eV photons have been observed for several bright ultraviolet emitting stars. These observations were made from the OGO-VI scanning Ly experiment whose resonance absorption fflter suppressed the strong HLy airglow, enabling weak external enhancements to be observed. Five separate orbits of data revealed point-source enhancements. Observations with an SrF2 background light fflter establish that less than 10% of the observed signals could be at spurious wavelengths.
