Reusable space vehicles, concepts and considerations
Abstract
The initial portion of the discussion is directed at general vehicle concepts which were proposed for reusable space systems. The rational for reusability is presented along with a comparison of various concepts. The latter portion of the discussion considers the fully reusable space shuttle. The various considerations involved in configuration design particularly aero/aerothermodynamic considerations are explained. The problem of abort as it relates to space shuttle program is also discussed.
