Vibrational analysis of the singlet systems of AsF
Abstract
Four singlet band systems in the region 2290-2910 Å attributed to the AsF molecule have been observed in a microwave discharge through flowing AsF 3 vapor. These are tentatively assigned to transitions involving two upper 1Π and the lower a1Δ and b1Σ states. Vibrational analysis gives values for ωe of 694.0 cm -1 and ωexe of 3.1 cm -1 for the a1Δ state, while interfering bands did not allow calculation of constants for b1Σ. The absence of bands involving upper vibrational levels of the two 1Π states indicates that predissociation occurs in these states.
