Precise Positions of Radio Sources. III. Comparison of Optical and Radio Measurements
Abstract
Radio and optical positions given in the preceding two papers for forty identified sources are in excellent agreement, which indicates that the technique used in the first paper for measuring radio positions is generally accurate to better than 1". The radio and optical positions agree, within the combined errors, for thirtY-six of the forty sources. The disagreement for the other four sources is less than 1.3 times the combined errors. Comparison with other optical and radio positions of claimed high accuracy shows in all cases that the quoted errors are realistic, with the exception of the optical positions given by Lu and Fredrick.
