Simultaneous X-Ray and Optical Observations of SCO X-1 Flares
Abstract
The X-ray telescope on the Orbiting Solar Observatory III has made extensive observations of Sco X-1 during 1967 May and June. Two occasions of X-ray flaring, at o7h26 and O9ht(y U.T. on 1967 June 3, happened to coindde with optical observations of the same phenomena, thus proving the connection between optical and X-ray flares on Sco X-1. The X-ray enhancements amounted to about a factor of 2 over the quiescent emission in the energy range 7.7-12.S keV.
