ENDOR of H - and D - compensated tetragonal Ce 3+ centres in CaF 2
Abstract
ENDOR confirms that tetragonal centres for Ce 3+ in CaF 2 are formed with H - and D - ions in the adjacent interstitial site. Their hyperfine interaction gives indication of covalent bonding with core polarised electrons on Ce 3+ through the intervening F - ions.
