Structure of a Rotating Polytrope in the Post-Newtonian Approximation of General Relativity
Abstract
A variational approach based on the work of Roberts and of Krefetz is used to examine the structure of a fast-rotating polytrope with symmetry about the axis of rotation and under stationary conditions in the post-Newtonian approximation of general relativity. The effects are evaluated by means of a simple trial function
