Absolute gf-values for Fe I and Fe II Lines
Abstract
We have measured absolute gf-values for thirty-four lines of Fe i and twelve lines of Fe ii between 3190 and 3315 A, and for the Fe i lines we have also determined coefficients of van der Waals broadening. The spectra were taken in absorption through a shock-heated gas containing Fe and were photographed with a 3 m spectrograph. These measurements and those of Huber and Tobey suggest that the absolute scale of Corliss and Warner for Fe us approximately 1.0 dex too high for lines below 4000 A. Consideration of the relative and absolute scales of published gf-values has indicated a wavelength dependence in the N B S. values be- tween 4000 and 5000 A. However, for lines above 5000 A, we did not find conclusive proof that the scale is in serious error
