Dynamics of H II Regions with the Central Star in Motion
Abstract
The dynamics of an isothermal H II region is reconsidered for the case in which the central star is in motion. The deformation of the region is calculated (Figs. 2 to 5). It is found that the front changes from R- to D-type at different times depending on the polar angle and the stellar velocity (table). The flow is calculated along the axis of the H II region as defined by the rectilinear motion of the star. The equations are integrated numerically using a hodograph transformation and Riemann invariants. The results (Figs. 7 to 12) indicate a strong dissymmetry between the upstream and downstream regions.
