Calculation of heat transfer in constant property turbulent boundary layer
Abstract
The method was designed to enable the development of the thermal boundary layer to be calculated for arbitrary distributions of surface temperature, external stream velocity and injection of free-stream fluid at the wall. Temperature profiles and heat transfer rates at the wall are obtained in the course of the calculations. The method is based upon the premise that, once the development of the velocity boundary layer is adequately specified, the heat transfer equation can be solved directly by making a suitable assumption for turbulent Prandtl number.
