Some characteristic features of six prong π-p interactions at 7.0 GeV/ c
Abstract
We have measured about 1500 six prong events from our exposure of 7.0 GeV/ c negative pions in the BNL 80 inch liquid hydrogen bubble chamber. We present here the results on the nature of transverse-momentum distributions ( pt), center-of-mass angular distributions and angular correlations among the pions of different charges. The ( pt) distributions agree well with the Hagedorn thermodynamical model [1] yielding for the "temperature" a value of about 120 MeV for the pions and 148 MeV for the nucleons. The nucleon shows a backward peaking in the c.m. system and the charged pions have a slight peaking in the forward direction. Neutral pions are very nearly isotropic. The value of the angular correlation parameter agrees with the statistical model.
