Oceanic and continental basalts in the geochemical cycle
Abstract
The apparently insignificant convergency of para- and ortho-amphibolites can explain the formation of enormous masses of basalt if brought in connection with the contrast between an oceanic basaltic and a granitic continental metabolism leading to a clear comprehension of the petrogenetic implications of the continuous rock series.
