A Compact Galaxy (iii ZW 2) and a Compact Radio Galaxy (3C 120) with Seyfert-Type Spectra
Abstract
Two compact galaxies with Seyfert-like spectra are analyzed. One is a radio galaxy that has radio characteristics which resemble a quasi-stellar object. Photoelectric photometry shows this galaxy (es- sentially the sharp nucleus) to have U - B, B - V colors like a QSS. The other compact has an ex- tremely high redshift for its apparent magnitude and colors that also resemble a quasi-stellar source. The two compact galaxies are compared to Seyfert galaxies and QSS's with respect to the width of their hydrogen emission lines. It is shown that both compacts fall intermediate in the redshift-apparent- magnitude diagram between quasi-stellar objects and normal Seyfert galaxies
