A colour-magnitude array for a region in the core of the Small Magellanic Cloud
Abstract
Fig. I shows the colour-magnitude array for a core region in the Small Magellanic Cloud. Fig. 2 shows the comparable array for a galactic comparison field with an area sixteen times that of the Small Cloud field and at a somewhat lower galactic latitude. The great majority of the stars with -o40<B-V< +040 shown in Fig. I and also most stars with B- V< + are obviously members of the Small Cloud. Fig. 3 shows that there is no evidence of appreciable effects of galactic or Small Cloud interstellar reddening in our material. The limit of our survey is Mv = -4.
