Additional Data on the Optical Variations in 3c 371 and Other Properties of N-Type Galaxies
Abstract
Optical variation; in the N-type galaxy 3C 371 has been found in the course of a UBV monitor program, confirmin the independent prior discovery by Oke. -type galaxies obey the Hubble expansion law defined by e radio galaxies studied so far. They are at cosmological distances. The optical variation of 3C 371 by at least 0.5 mag provides the single counter-example needed to show that rapid variation of optical flux of any object does not require that the object be local.
