Relationship between the Products of Aromatic Biosynthesis in Mycobacterium smegmatis and Aerobacter aerogenes
Abstract
MYCOBACTERIA, when grown on Proskauer and Beck medium, accumulate salicylic acid1. This accumulation is greatly increased by iron.deficiency. The results presented here suggest that this acid originates from an intermediate in the main pathway of aromatic biosynthesis.
