Absence of Sterol Synthesis in some Arthropods
Abstract
ALL species of insects which have been critically investigated require a dietary sterol for optimum growth1. Clark and Bloch2 concluded that the inability to synthesize sterols is probably a metabolic characteristic of the class Hexapoda.
