The Galactic Cluster NGC 6087.
Abstract
Photometric data on the Johnson-Morgan B, V system are given for 547 stars in the cluster area. The reddening across the cluster appears constant and a color excess E(B-v) = 0.20 magnitudes was adopted. The evolutionary deviation curve method of Johnson indicates a distance modulus of 9.8 + 0.1 magnitudes. Two red-giant stars in the cluster field are apparently cluster members along with the 9.8- day classical cepheid S Normae. The luminosity function to Mv = +4.0 agrees with the Salpeter initial luminosity function.
