Spectroscopic orbit of the supergiant eclipsing binary BL Telescopii
Abstract
The spectroscopic elements of the orbit of BL Telescopii, a supergiant eclipsing system, have been determined. 6s spectra were measured and a least-squares solution performed. The period is days and the semiamplitude km/sec. There is a suggestion of a secondary oscillation in the velocity residuals. The high space velocity of the system is discussed in terms of its great distance from the galactic plane. The mass function of the primary is 0'496 M0 the possible mass combinations of the components are given.
