On computational technique for photographic astrometry with overlapping plates
Abstract
The solution of the large number of normal equations arising from the rigorous treatment of the problem of overlapping plates requires the use of iterative techniques. One such technique (the generalized Gauss- Seidel method) is proposed and its convergence shown for these problems. A convergence criterion is dis- cussed which gives an upper bound to the error of the solution vector.
