A study of neutral hydrogen in the solar neighbourhood of the Milky Way
Abstract
The distribution of neutral hydrogen away from the galactic plane has been measured between Dec. = +900 and Dec. = 320. It shows a number of neutral hydrogen clouds which coincide in position with dust complexes. The major feature of the distribution is the excess of neutral hydrogen in the position of the local system (Gould's Belt) of early-type stars and dust. The system ( io5 MO) appears to represent a later formation in the local spiral arm. An extended region in Cepheus is probably similar.
