Cepheids in Galactic Clusters. III EV SCT in NGC 6664.
Abstract
Light-curves in three colors have been measured photoelectrically for EV Sct, a cepheid variable member of the galactic cluster NGC 6664 Magnitudes and colors of stars in the cluster show that the cluster is reddened by an average EB- V = 0 6 mag After correction for differential obscuration across the cluster, a fit of the age-zero main sequence to the cluster main sequence yields an apparent modulus of 12 6 + 0.2 mag The cluster therefore lies at a true distance of 1450 parsecs in the direction x = 352 , p = -2 The cepheid, EV Sct, has a period of 3 09 days and a small amplitude, V = 031 mag Its mean normal color index is derived to be B - V = 0 55, and it mean absolute magnitude to be Mv = -25 mag
