Scattering of Electrons from Nuclear Charge Fluctuations
Abstract
An attempt is made to discuss the influence of nonpotentialscattering effects in the elastic scattering of electrons from nuclei. It is shown that in the second order of perturbation theory, if we assume the major contributions to come from lowlying nuclear states, the scattering is completely determined by specifying the average charge density of the ground state, and the density of the fluctuations about this charge distribution. Numerical computations are presented for one simplified model of these distributions.
