Anomalous Abundances of Manganese, Strontium, and Europium in HD 151199.
Abstract
HD 151199 is a peculiar A-type star with the relatively large space velocity of 69 km/sec. Abundances of the elements Mg, Si, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Sr, Ba, and Eu in this star have been determined relative to the standard main-sequence star 95 Leo. It is found that all the abundances are normal except for Mn, Sr, and Eu, which have overabundance ratios of 9, 65, and 130, respectively It is pointed out that these anomalies are similar in some respects to those found in the magnetic stars a2 CVn and HD 133029. It is suggested, therefore, that HD 151199 may also have a large surface magnetic field and that surface nuclear reactions may be responsible for the abundance anomalies.
