Carbon Stars at the Galactic Equator in a Zone 4° Wide.
Abstract
A catalogne is given of 271 carbon stars within a galactic zone 4 wide from longitude 333 through zero to 201 . The classification was made on objective-prism plates, utilizing the near infrared spectral region from X 6800 to X 8800. Of these stars, 222 are new. A way to separate the N and the R stars is suggested, with the results indicated in the catalogne. The limiting infrared magnitude of the survey is about 11.
