Superconductivity of Rhenium
Abstract
Measurements have been made in the liquid helium temperature region of the magnetic threshold curve of rhenium by observations of the magnetic moment of a powdered sample. The transition temperature Tc in zero magnetic field was found to be 2.42°K, and the observed slope of the threshold curve at T=Tc was 235 gauss per degree. Assuming a reversible transition, the value of the normal electronic specific heat coefficient γ obtained from the magnetic data is 4.6×101-4 calories per mole per degree2, a value which would be expected from the correlation between γV and Tc previously proposed.
