Tables Facilitating the LeastSquares Solution of an Eclipsing Binary LightCurve
Abstract
Tables which greatly shorten the leastsquares solution of an eclipsing binary lightcurve are developed and presented. It has been found possible, with some minor qualifications, to tabulate the differential coefficients appearing in the equations of condition as functions of the wellknown parameters k and p. These coefficients, which are also functions of the limbdarkening coefficient x, may be numerically evaluated for any intermediate limb darkening by interpolation between the uniform (x = 0) and the darkened (x = 1) tables. Tables of the differential coefficients for x = 0.4 and x = 0.6 are also given. These tables are of very general applicability and are especially recommended for the solution of photoelectric lightcurves in one or more colors
