Instrumental study of the New Hampshire earthquakes of December, 1940
Abstract
A study of original records and bulletin readings for two strong earthquakes in the Ossipee Hountain District of southeastern New Hampshire in December, 1940, gave for both ϕ = 43° 50‧ north, λ = 71° 17‧ west.S started from a depth of approximately 35 km and P at the same time from a depth of 15 km. The second shock was multiple. Times at the focus were: 1940 December 20d 07h 27m 26s; 24d 13h 43m 45s; 24d 13h 43m 47s; 24d 13h 43m 57s.
