The Apsidal Motion in Binary Stars Built on a PointSource ConvectiveCore Model with Varying Gjillotine Factor.
Abstract
The apsidal motion for binary stars built on a pointsoUrce convectivecore model with varying guillo tine factor is calculated by numerical integration up to the fifth harmonic of the surface distortion. It is found that the pointconvective model behaves, with respect to apsidal motion, very nearly like a poiy trope of index 3.48. For the five eclipsing binaries for which observations are available the polytropic indices corresponding to the observed apsidal motion agree fairly well with the value found for the point source convectivecore model
