The electron densities of some typical, bright, planetary nebulae have been estimated from the in- tensity of the continuous emission beyond the limit of the Balmer series. The densities so obtained are of the order of ro4 electrons/cm3 for the objects studied and are probably somewhat lower in the fainter planetaries
