Interstellar Radiation from Free Electrons and Hydrogen Atoms.
Abstract
The intensity of the radiation produced by electrons and hydrogen ions is considered. It is shown that for an electron temperature of io,ooo° and a density of one electron per square centimeter we may expect from interstellar space an intensity of radiation at a wave length of 1.65 meters of 5.8 X io'~ ergs per square centimeter per second per square degree per kilocycle band width. This is in excellent agreement with the observa- tional value given by Reber. The computations have been extended over the range io meters to 4400 A
