The ionization of CS2 by electron impact has been studied. It has been found that the CS+2, CS+, S+ and C+ ions are produced at 10.4+/-0.2, 14.7+/-0.5, 14.0+/-0.5 and 21.5+/-1.0 volts, respectively. The absence of S+2 ions and the high appearance potential for C+ indicate a linear molecule. By raising the filament temperature free CS and S2 are produced and their I.P.'s determined as 10.6+/-0.3 and 10.7+/-0.3 volts. Heats of dissociation for various processes are deduced from the experimental data.
