Program of scientific work on cruise VII of the Carnegie, 1928-1931
Abstract
After an interval of over six years, the Carnegie is to start out again on May 1, 1928, for a world-wide cruise extending over a period of three years. This will be the seventh cruise of the vessel and, as indicated by the tentative schedule below and Fig. 1, will add nearly 105,000 nautical miles to the present total of nearly 253,000 miles traversed in all oceans during cruises I to VI (1909-1921). A more general program of scientific work is to be undertaken than on previous cruises. In addition to investigations in terrestrial magnetism and atmospheric electricty, some work in physical and biological oceanography is to be attempted.
