Searches for a pulsar in SN 1987A.
Abstract
Results are presented from searches for a pulsar in SN 1987A at radio and optical wavelengths. Models of the evolution of the neutron star are discussed, focusing on expectations for the discovery of a pulsar. Consideration is given to limits on the total spin-down luminosity of the pulsar which have been derived from the bolometric light curve. Also, predictions of the strength of the pulsar are discussed.
