SN 1987A : interpretation of radio observations.
Abstract
Radio observations of SN 1987A are considered, focusing on the interpretation of the radio burst as an expanding synchrotron source. Data from radio observations of SN 1987A are compared with predictions from models describing supernova radio emission. It is found that the progenitor star was a blue supergiant surrounded by a tenuous wind envelope at the time of the explosion.
